I've been toying with the idea of doing just a little character design/development just for self indulgence sake and, well, going in the shishi/shisa direction was pretty much inevitable.

I started to just do some random doodles tonight and I ended up doing one of these adorable little guys. They are absolutely so much fun to draw! I've never done one before either but I find them really easy to figure it. I think I like them because if they look a little derpy that's okay, haha.

These ones are easy, but have you ever tried drawing one of the super traditional ones in kanō school style? Shit is impossible.

Well, I drew it sort of more realistically, I guess? Like I was looking at a statue of one for reference. I need to Google the style you speak of... okay, yeah. Nope. I'll leave the traditional stuff to the masters. D:
